It's taken a little over 10 months but I've finally opened the Originals section of the Don Shank Art Store! There are 12 pieces available to start and shipping is Free! Two of the pieces even come framed. Go to the Originals Store.

I just made some adjustments to the store pages and Info page that will hopefully make it less confusing to order prints to be shipped to destinations outside the USA. Paypal makes it difficult for me to properly account for the shipping costs for all the different countries vs. weight of the prints ordered vs. carrier needed for your location etc. In the past I had to spend more to ship certain orders than I charged for the whole order.

Paypal doesn't let me disable International Shipping so currently you will find if you try to order through my Paypal Buttons to International destinations there will be a giant shipping fee to deter you from doing it.

If you would like to order print(s) for delivery outside the USA you must contact me with your shipping address and what you would like to order. I will then get back to you with a shipping charge quote based on the weight of your package and it's destination.

I hope to figure out a better way to do this in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I just got back from vacation and I've been putting the finishing touches on some pieces for the Originals store. I've got 3 pieces I'm taking to be scanned this week and then I've only got 2 more pieces to wrap up to meet my target quantity for the first round. I can't wait to open this section of the store if only so I can finally get rid of the "coming soon" graphics!

Three of the pieces that will be available for purchase are from an unreleased and upcoming book (November 2010) that I'm doing with Scott Morse, Lou Romano, and Nate Wragg. The book itself should be available for purchase at the APE show in San Francisco later this year. The other guys are done with their contributions and I've got just one more piece to finish before it goes off to the publisher.

Well, it's been almost 7 months since I opened my store and I have yet to open the "Originals" section. Life gets in the way sometimes, but I am still working on my original pieces for the store. It is definitely coming.

I already have a few pieces done which just need to be scanned. I have a few more pieces that are in progress. I realy want to have a small handfull of pieces for the opening and then I'll probably leak pieces onto the store as I finish them in the future.

It's a good thing to take into consideration when thinking about buying an original piece of mine... I don't get a lot of free time, so I don't produce that many original pieces in a year.

I'll be posting some images to my blog as I get the pieces scanned, and just so you know there are a few pieces already shown on my blog that were created for the store so...

I just added two new prints to the print store today. Laboratory Still Life 01, and Laboratory Still Life 02.

Also I just dropped the price by $5 on all prints (except the Myth & War print set which remains at $10)

All prints still include free shipping to any domestic U.S.A. locations.

Sorry, International shipping is still unavailable, though if you are interested in a print and you don't live in the U.S.A. please contact me and we can talk about shipping fees based on your location.

I had to temporarily stop international shipping for Prints. The actual cost of shipping and the extra time involved made it prohibitive, especially for the smaller prints.

If you do not live in the United States of America and you really want to buy one of my prints then please contact me and we can discuss availability and what the shipping fee would be.

I still plan to ship the Original Art to International locations for a fee (based on it's size/weight and destination), and to domestic U.S. locations for Free.

Speaking of the Original Art. I've been making some progress (slowly). I also have some pieces that I'm preparing for an interim book the Ancient Book artists are putting together for the SD Comic-Con 2010. I doubt we'll have a gallery show for this book and so I'll probably include these pieces in my art store when it (finally) opens.

It's been a while since my last update. I've been busy with a move to a new house as well as a move to a new office at work. My whole studio was (and partially still is) in boxes.

I'm still at work on the first batch of original art but it seems like it's been forever. I never thought it would take this long but other things in life pop up and I get diverted. I haven't given up on it though. It's coming!

Meanwhile I've got a few items for my blog that I'll be posting soon. Time to get in to 2010.

I've been working hard on new paintings but there have been big changes going on in all areas of my life recently and that hasn't left much time for me to paint. Plus I am moving to a new office at work and so all my paint gear will be boxed up over then next few weeks.

I can't wait to get the Originals section of my store open and I've got about half of the first batch done. Hopefully January.

You can see that I've added a Twitter widget on the right. I'll be adding this to my blog soon as well because I'll be announcing any new items to the store over this Twitter feed. I plan to open the store tomorrow, barring any last minute issues.

Almost done with getting the store set up. I'm keeping it simple. I'll be opening it in the coming weeks with a handful of prints. Original art and more prints will come a little later.
